Speedway RECYCLES!!
I'm a proud member of Speedway's Solid Waste Management Commission since 2001. The Commission is responsible for managing the trash, yard waste and recycling for the Town of Speedway.
Recycling is my passion. It's important to keep as much waste out of landfills as possible. To this end, the Commission has worked diligently to increase recycling participation and to keep heavy trash out of the landfill.
Our greatest accomplishment came to be in October, 2008 when the SWMC moved it's Heavy Trash Drop off location from the Street Department on Lynhurst to a parking lot provided by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Working with local recyclers, we went from this:

Now, after 3 Drop off's at the IMS lot, Speedway has recycled tons of electronics, appliances and other items that would have normally just been smashed and put in the landfill. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the Town!
